when you live in a country split in two (islands), it's easy to assume that both halves are made of the same mustard. and sure, the north and south islands of nz are both host to beautiful mountains and insane beaches. but the similarities end there.
the thing is though, that the two main islands of new zealand (there's actually a third little one, but i'll forgive your ignorance) are completely, amazingly different. without doing a high school style compare and contrast it's not something i can show you with these photos. but for reference this is a wee nook of the south island, nestled in the marlborough sounds. it's called anakiwa.
